Diablo 2 Play Disc Iso
Sigh..
So I bought Diablo 2 & lod. Installed it on my laptop which has vista. After a few steps it worked perfectly.
Then I get on my desktop computer which has xp. I install the game, try playing it, and it says that god awful error. After googling for an hour I see that other people have had the problem too, but I didn't find any solution. I installed the patch to lod and still says the same thing. I tried mounting a .iso file instead of putting my cd in, doesn't work.
halp!
The first thing I would ensure is having patch 1.12/1.13 installed which lets you play without any discs inserted (copy protection removed). You must copy all.mpq files from the disc(s) to your harddrive, though. The heirs download english subtitles. Unfortunately, even this doesn't help on some systems (the disc check itself seems broken).
I am trying to run Diablo 2 using Daemon Tools, and I think I'm missing a step somewhere. I used the mounted ISO's to do the installs, and everything went very smoothly. Once the game plus expansion were installed, I mounted the expansion ISO to the drive, and clicked on the image to run it. It brings up the 'Play Diablo II: Lord of Destruction' window. I click Play, and after about 10 seconds, it gives me the, 'There is no disc, please insert the disc and click retry' message.
I have tried creating an ISO using the MDF/MDS format, MDX format, as well as the basic ISO. I have tried each of those 3 options on all 3 different types of virtual drives (DT, SCSI, and IDE), and what I explained above happens every single time regardless of the setup.
I'm at a loss as to what to try next. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've moved all of the.mpq files on the LoD disk to the Diablo II directory, yet it still says that I need a disk. I've followed the directions given by blizzard, yet I still can't get it to work. Much help appreciated. Please verify that your Diablo II Play Disc is in your CD-ROM drive, then click on 'Retry'.' The play disc is in the drive. What can I do to solve this problem?
